Today we ran a petition to call on Sir Stuart Rose to reconsider the closure of the Caversham branch of Marks & Spencer Simply Food in St Martin’s precinct. Thanks to the hundreds (yes hundreds!) of you that were able to brave the cold weather to pop down and sign it. I even had to [...]

Some sad news today that Marks & Spencer is to close the Caversham branch of Simply Food.
When it first opened in August 2006 it was a welcome addition to St Martin’s Precinct, helping to brighten up the area, as well as bring people to the local shops.
On Monday the Reading branch of Adams closed its [...]

Saturday 13th September from 10.30am - 5.30pm is the date of the fifth Caversham festival. It takes place just in the recreation ground next to Westfield and Gosbrook roads, and has entertainment and stalls for all the family, so pop on down.
As always it’s free, with a small charge for parking.

The route may still be split up, however Reading Buses have extended public consultation until the end of September 2008, you can see the plans here.

I went to my first NAG (Neighbourhood Action Group) this evening. The Action Group allows members of the local community to work together with the local policing team to deal with local issues. Three areas have been identified by the local group – Anti-Social Behaviour, Burglary and Traffic/Speeding.
If anybody would like to attend the monthly [...]

One of my friends has just sent me a link to a website saying I’m a Labour Cllr for Battle Ward. I can confirm that the last time I checked I am a Conservative Cllr for Caversham Ward.
You can view the link here.
On the serious side the website is actually Reading Voluntary Action, who promote [...]

Today Cllrs Andrew Cumpsty, Tom Stanway and I launched an anti-graffiti campaign in Caversham. We are asking for local residents who have any information on Graffiti in Caversham to report it, so we can get this pointless drain on resources stopped. We will also be meeting with Council officers in the next couple of weeks [...]

When out on the election campaign Andrew Cumpsty pointed out a lamppost and said “that’s the first thing I did when I became a Councillor”.
Last night while sitting at home I heard a large bang, I frantically began looking round the flat for what had happened. After about 10 minutes I heard another one, so [...]
